Five Types Of Power Tools
Most power tools are powered by an electric motor, compressed air motor or a gas engine. These power tools can be used not only at construction sites but also at home. It is advisable that you have one or two power tools because these tools are indeed designed to make your life more convenient.
1. Drills. This power too can either be powered by electricity or by batteries. This power tool has a rotating drill bit that makes the drill capable or creating holes on various materials. This tool is often used in woodworking, metalworking, construction projects and of course do it yourself tasks.
There are different types of drills but no matter what the type it is, the function will remain the same and that is to drill holes on various materials and surfaces. The drill is able to make holes by performing one of the following: crushing and removing work pieces, grinding small pieces like that in oil drilling and slicing off thin shavings like the one seen on twist drills.
2. Heat guns. From the term itself, it is already pretty obvious that this power tool works by emitting a stream of extremely hot air. Physically, heat guns look more like hairdryers; however, this tool is often found in construction sites, engineering laboratories or physics and chemical laboratories.
The heat gun is often used to strip paint, thaw frozen materials, weld materials, dry out damp materials and soften adhesives. Most heat gun models are capable of emitting hot air which can be between 100-550 degrees Celsius.
3. Sanders. This type of power tool is often used by individuals working in the furniture business. Anyone who is into wood working will certainly know this type of power tool very well.
A sander is often used to smooth and buff wooden surfaces. These can also be used on automotive surfaces. Most woodworking sanders are operated or powered by electricity while automotive sanders are being powered by compressed air.
4. Saws. This type of power tool is usually used by workers to cut wood and other materials. Power saws can cut through wood like it is butter and unlike traditional saws, power saws are capable of cutting more pieces in a short span of time. Like drills, there are also different types of saws like jigsaws, table saws and band saws. These saws may look different but the function will always remain the same and that is to cut.
5. Nail guns. If you are into high speed construction, you will certainly need this type of power tool. Long ago most carpenters and construction workers use hammers to drive nails through a chunk of wood or any other material but then again, using this takes a lot of time.
So once the nail guns were invented it had certainly replaced hammers in more ways than one. Nail guns can either be battery powered or pneumatic. These nail guns work by driving a nail through a piece of wood in a split second. It also reduces the risk of you hammering yourself which can be very painful.
