Top Three Safety Work Gear To Shop For

As the old adage goes, “It is better to be safe than to be sorry.” That is why blue collar workers especially those who work in construction sites and manufacturing plants should never be without their safety work gear. They are only human after all and they will need all the help and protection they can get. Here are a list of the top five must have protection and safety gear for every hard working man.

1. Hand protection gear.

Without doubt, our hands are the most used and the most hardworking part of our body. It is our hands that do the writing, that carry objects, that do the nailing and the cutting and the sawing of boards, that enable us to climb up and down the ladder with ease and they are the ones which are most vulnerable to injury. That is why they should be first priority when it comes to protection gear.

Handy gloves are proven to be excellent armor for hardworking hands. When shopping for work gloves the three things to keep in mind are durability, handiness and flexibility. You may find these two qualities in gloves that have fingertips made out of synthetic leather and with added padding on its palm pads. The latter provides more cushion for armor and for comfort. Look for material that is tough but soft at the same time so you will not have a hard time moving and stretching out your fingers. Check the label to make sure the material does not shrink or you might see your hands swollen after a days work. Go for gloves with comfortable wrist cuffs that can be easily adjusted.

2. Head protection gear.

When working at a construction site, there are bound to be some falling debris somewhere and you never know when you will have that accidental slip and fall on your head. This is why a good head gear is vital. As you will need to wear this hat all day long, the criteria should be comfort and resilience to all the elements of assembly work. Purchase a hat that is lightweight and robust at the same time. It is highly recommended that you get a hard hat that balances well on your head and does not fall down when you twist or bend over. The hat should be able to protect your eyes not only from the striking rays of the sun but more importantly from the splinters or small fragments that may come your way.

3. Safety vests.

You might have seen a number of even almost all blue collar workers wearing these vests and they do with purpose. Two good examples of safety vests wearers are highway patrol officers and construction guys. These vests prevent the former from being hit by cars as their reflective color can help drivers recognize the hazard sign at a distance and for them to maneuver their way through traffic more appropriately. Loud colored safety vests on construction workers allow them to see their colleagues even from different floors up. These vests not only allow for more visibility during the day but more importantly during the hours from dusk until dawn.
